Spain’s Costa del Sol (Coast of the Sun) is one of the most popular summer holiday destinations in Europe. Kilometers of beaches alternate with modern resorts and historic towns, with mountain ranges ideal for hiking rising in the background. Costa del Sol is an unofficial region in southern Andalusia, so its exact borders cannot be precisely defined. Generally, however, it is considered to be the strip of resorts from La Línea de la Concepción, through Marbella and Málaga, to the town of Nerja. The Costa del Sol is bordered by the Costa de la Luz to the west and the Costa Tropical to the east.
